At Okemos Nursery School we offer the option of a two through five-day program in the morning and a five-day option in the afternoon. We also offer “full day” opportunities. We have found that the children enjoy the camaraderie of a mid-day meal with their friends and we have learned from them the benefits that this “continuity” can provide.
Over the course of the years the children have taught us that age need not be a criterion for or a barrier against enrollment in any class. We have found that when younger children are in a mixed age group class they are eager for the mentoring of the older children and that their inherent skills flow more readily. In the case of older children we have observed these wonderful mentoring skills developing, along with the growth of self-confidence and the characteristics of empathy, compassion and understanding.
The information below can be used as a general guide for selecting a typically age appropriate class for your child. Please keep in mind that four and five day sessions are offered in the morning classes as well.
