Summer Art and Nature Workshop 2015

During the summer we offer our children the opportunity to participate in an extended day “Art and Nature Workshop” --- and trust me, we have some extremely innovative ideas for this Summer’s Workshop!

As always our major areas of expression during the Summer Workshops are studies in both art and nature. Jim McGrath from Nature Discovery will join us weekly, as will Mary Jane for Creative Movement.  We will also welcome a “guest” Studio teacher weekly!   However, this summer we hope to take the study of “Nature” to another level!

In the spring I will be studying in Ontario, Canada with Diane Kashin, a pioneer in the forest kindergarten movement in North America.  A forest kindergarten is sort of a classroom "without ceilings or walls".  We will be incorporating some of these concepts in our Summer Workshop!  We have direct access to Wonch Park through the back gate iof our outdoor play yard!  It is our intent to spend extended time outdoors,  becoming comfortable in Nature by immersing our selves in it!  One of the neatest features of these forest kindergartens is the emphasis on play with toys that are fashioned out of objects that can be found in nature.  It would be wonderful to have a display of these child-made toys at the last day "Pot Luck and Art Festival".

We are so excited to be able to include these exciting new experiences in this Summer’s repertoire!

We extend the daily hours of the Summer Workshop to allow us more time together to work, explore, create and discover.  We share lunch daily as well, so please send your child with a packed lunch and a beverage.

These Workshops are always popular and are eagerly anticipated by the children, parents --- and Judy and I!  We believe that this Workshop will again offer our children experiences that are unique to the community!

The session runs from June 16 to July 16, 2015.  We will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30 to 1:00 p.m.  The tuition is $375 for the five week session and is payable with the completed application.

Please note that enrollment is limited to twenty children, and students will be accepted in the order in which their applications are received.

We will begin accepting enrollment for this Workshop on Monday, March 2, 2015.
